Reply To: What is an autoimmune disease?

There are many autoimmune diseases besides type 1 diabetes (according to my research, over 100) . In a nutshell, the definition of autoimmune disease is when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own healthy cells. I have celiac disease which is an autoimmune disease. I am type 2 diabetic that happens to present as a type 1. Even though I have type 2, I have learned so much from my type 1 diabetics.
